The Simpson County Economic Development District held their Board of Trustee meeting on Tuesday, January 9th @ Berry Seafood. Trustees present were: James Smith (Chairman), Dennis Ammann, Gerald Brown, Billy Craft, Robert Maddox, and Fountaine McNair Others present were: Pat Brown (SCDF President), Brian Barnard (SCDF past president), Donnie Caughman and Richard Rankin (SCDF Staff)
The meeting was called to order by James Smith (chairman). The invocation was given by Richard Rankin.

The following was discussed:
1. The sale of the two parcels of surplus non-industrial property in Magee for $761,000, which funds are now available for SCEDD economic development projects;

2.  The recent response to a Request for Information (RIF) from an international, agricultural-products-related business representing a potential $120,000,000 investment and 100 skill jobs;

3. The approval of the annual service contract between SCEDD and SCDF for 2018.  There is no change from last year’s contract, and the compensation to SCDF remains at $88,500.  Under the service agreement, SCDF “agrees to be responsible for providing services necessary in order to market Simpson County to prospective industries.”

Meeting was adjourned
