Simpson Academy students  are participating in Blankets of Hope.

Blankets of Hope is a non-profit organization started by two brothers in New York with the purpose of beginning a kindness movement.  The organization’s goal is to hand out as many purple blankets of hope to homeless people as they possibly can.

What makes them unique is that each blanket comes with a handwritten note attached to it written by an individual who wants to encourage and show kindness.

We requested 96 blankets and we received them free of charge from Blankets of Hope.  All they asked in return was that we let our students watch a few videos created by the brothers who started Blankets of Hope, write notes to attach to the blankets, make sure the blankets get delivered to a homeless shelter and send the organization a few pictures of our students reading some of the notes and a few videos.

SCA teacher Amy McWilliams  heard about the idea on television one Sunday afternoon about a month and a half ago and thought it would be an amazing opportunity for her students to participate.  “The students  have loved doing it!  We hope to deliver the blankets to a homeless shelter in Jackson next week,” stated Mrs. McWilliams.
