Senator Chris Caughman and Representative Noah Sanford honored Simpson Academy Head Basketball Coach James Crain for his 1,000th win with Senate Concurrent Resolution 632 on Friday, March 22, 2019.

Coach James Crain’s overall record is now 1,001 wins and 326 losses.  His career record is as follows:

     •  Coached Mendenhall High School for 23 years with 586 wins and the #500 win in the 1997 season;

 

     •  Coached Hillcrest Christian School for six years, with 167 wins, #600 win in the 2005 season and #700 win in the 2008 season;

 

     •  Coached Simpson Academy for nine years with 248 wins, #800 win in the 2012 season, #900 win in the 2016 season and win #1,000 in the 2019 season;

 

     •  1,000th win in the State Championship Game 2.

Senator Chris Caughman and Representative Noah Sanford honored the Simpson Academy “Cougars” Boy’s basketball team and coaches James and Carey Crain by presenting to Coach James Crain Senate Concurrent Resolution 624 for winning the 2019 MAIS AAAA Division II State Championship. With a record of 26-9 the Cougars won the District and State Championships.

 

The Simpson County “Cougars” Boys Basketball Team 2019 MAIS AAAA Division II State Championship Roster is:  Joseph Berry, PG; Jaden Wedgeworth, G; Morgan Leonard, G; Jered Smith, G; Todd Larkin, G; Hunter Cline, G; Cole Groover, G; Drew Williams, F; Layton Brown, G; Bowen Kelly, F; Warner Watkins, F; Josh Flynt, C; Thomas Pepper, C; and David Pepper, F; James and Carey Crain, Coaches; Austin Lane, Scorekeeper; and Stats, Ramsey Jones and Jacob Johns.
