The Cougars battled until the end with a 28-21 victory over Madison St. Joe on Friday night. Simpson Academy quickly fell behind on back to back touchdown catches by Carter Walker of 6 and 26 yards respectively. Then with 3 seconds left in the half, Brentley Berry connected with Tyler Stanford for a 22 yard touchdown pass. Simpson went in at halftime down 14-7.

In the second half, St. Joe took the ball the length of the field and capped the drive off with a 1 yard TD run by Dae Dae Davis. The Cougars quickly returned fire with a 93 yard touchdown pass from Berry to Carter Cockrell. Simpson missed the PAT and trailed 21-13.
After 3 and out by St. Joe, Matt Adcock blocked a punt that was recovered by Crosby Mullins of the Cougars. Simpson took the ball on the short end of the field and finished with a 3 yard TD pass from Berry to Matt Adcock.  Berry completes the 2 point conversion and SCA tied the game 21-21.
The Cougars pooch the kickoff and it is recovered by Colby Womack. Simpson was unable to capitalize on the play. However, the defense held firm in a back and forth battle.  Then with 2:20 left in the game, Berry connects again with Carter Cockrell on a 59 yard touchdown pass. PAT was good  and  Cougars  lead  28-21.

The Cougar defense held strong once again.  This was capped off by an interception by Sawyer Dunn to end the game.
Brentley Berry finished the night 11/22 for 249 yards and 4 touchdowns. Carter Cockrell had 25 rushes for 85 yards paired with 2 catches for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The Cougar deference was once again led by Tyler Stanford with 8.5 tackles and Matt Adcock with 7 tackles, respectively.
Simpson improves to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.  The Cougars will take the field again this Friday night at 7:00 at Park Place Academy.
