Simpson Academy’s only basketball game this past week came against a Jackson Victors team; their VB had won 6 of its last 7 ballgames.

Both teams came out aggressive with Simpson holding a slight 10-9 lead.

Jacob Berry hit a 3 followed by a fast break where Brandon Cranford finished a lay-up and plus one.

Shortly after that Ethan Brewer came in off the bench with a quick steal and lay-up to help the Cougars take a 22-12 after the first period.

Simpson dominated in the 2nd outscoring the Victors by 19 and leading 48-17 at the half. The Victor made a quick run to start the 3rd scoring 7 unanswered points but Simpson would recover and go on to win 71-32. The varsity girls also won big 55-15.

Much thanks to David, it took some arm twisting to persuade him to help me with boys basketball write-ups.  Anyone who can assist with SCA girls would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t make all the basketball games at Magee, Mendenhall, and Simpson…  I need HELP!  If you are willing to write a short article, send pictures, or text scores, please contact
