SBA Mississippi announce its 2022 Small Business Persons of the Year,

Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Small Business Champions,

Top Lenders, and Top CDCs

JACKSON, MS – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Mississippi District Office announces Lesia Daniel Hollingshead and William Walter Daniel, Jr., owners of Funtime Afterschool of Clinton, Inc. of Clinton, MS as the SBA Mississippi 2022 Small Business Persons of the Year.

In 2000, Daniel-Hollingshead and her brother, William Walter Daniel, realized the growing need for quality after-school care for children. Using a skating rink facility owned by their parents, they opened Funtime Afterschool. The need for child care extended to younger children and infant care in the community. Presently, Daniel-Hollingshead and Daniel have three locations and manage 128 employees.

During the pandemic challenges in 2020, Funtime Afterschool credits SBA’s COVID-19 programs for keeping the doors open. They were able to maintain operation of the childcare facilities in the midst of increased overhead and day to day operational costs.

“We are pleased to shine the spotlight on Lesia and William, Co-Owners of Funtime Afterschool of Clinton, Inc., as our 2022 Small Business Persons of the Year,” says Janita R. Stewart, SBA Mississippi District Director. “We look forward to recognizing these outstanding small business owners and presenting them with their award during our Small Business Week Awards event. We will also make awards presentation to our Young Entrepreneur, Small Business Champions, Top Lenders, Top Certified Development Companies and Top Microlender as well as show appreciation to two key resource organizations, the Mississippi Bankers Association and the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southeast,” Stewart says.

The SBA Mississippi District Office will honor these award winners at a local awards ceremony during National Small Business Week in May.
