Sara Shows Hankins passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the age of 79. She was born on June 2, 1940, to her parents, the late Dewitt Shows and Velma (Dollar) Shows.
The matriarch of the Bowers Hankins family, Sara devoted her life to God and family. Whether it was teaching Sunday school at Corinth Baptist Church, serving up catfish at South Fork Fish House, or cruising around Walmart, grandchildren in tow, she was never without a kind word and a smile.
Married in 1957 to the love of her life, she and her late husband, Junior, enjoyed 58 years of wedded bliss before he passed away in 2016. Their life together was full of faith, hope, and the greatest of these, love. Love was the driving force in everything Sara did. Love for Christ, love for her family, and love for anyone in need of it. A princess to her husband and a pillar of strength to her family, Sara leaves behind a legacy that most can only hope for. While her absence will be grieved with each passing day, her memory will forever be celebrated.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Hankins (Lisa), Mark Hankins; one daughter, Susan Hankins Miller (Mike); seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bowers Hankins, Jr.; parents, Dewitt and Velma Shows; three brothers; six sisters; and grandchild, Jessica Hankins.
Due to the current circumstances, the family will have a graveside service at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Final resting place will follow in the cemetery. Rev. Jay Wesbrooks will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
