The Prentiss Christian Saints JV team was coming off of a tough district loss against Wayne Academy. They were looking to rebound on the road against Clinton Christian School. Prentiss won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff. The Warriors kickoff went 34 yards and was caught and downed by Kade Greenlee of the Saints on the 26 yard line. The Saints opened up the ground game early on giving carries to Jacob Anderson, Wade Watkins and Daniel Magee on a 13 play drive that was capped off by an 8 yard Watkins touchdown run. The 2pt conversion attempt by Watkins was stopped keeping the score 6-0 with 1:47 to play in the 1st quarter. Watkins kickoff went 30 yards, but the Warriors had a good return to the 49 yard line of the Saints. A good defensive stand by the Saints forced the Warriors into a 4th and 16 situation. CCA elected to punt to Watkins who returned the ball 70 yards for a Saints touchdown. Anderson ran in the 2pt conversion giving PCS a 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Watkins’ kickoff sailed 40 yards and was returned 24 yards to the CCA 44 yard line. The Saint defense pushed the Warriors back forcing a 4th and 11 attempt for CCA. The try failed giving Prentiss the ball on the CCA 45 yard line. Five plays later, Anderson hit wide receiver Austin Long for a 12 yard touchdown pass. Magee’s 2 pt conversion attempt came up short making the score 20-0 Saints. Watkins lined up and kicked off to the Warriors who returned the ball 14 yards to the 32 yard line. CCA started a good drive, but will 11 seconds to play in the 1st half forced a deep pass to the end zone that was intercepted by Cass Jones and returned to the 8 yard line. The Saints elected to kneel out the clock and head into the locker room with a substantial 20 point lead. The Saints started the 2nd half by kicking to the 30 yard line of CCA. The ball was returned 10 yards starting the Warrior drive on the 40 yard line. After a penalty on 1st down, the Warriors would continue to go backwards as the Saint defense pushed CCA back to the 35 yard line. The Warriors attempted a 4th and 15, but came up short turning the ball back over to the Saints. 7 plays later, Anderson hit Kade Greenlee in stride for a 20 yard touchdown pass. Anderson added the 2pt conversion with a successful run making the score 28-0 with 1:16 left to play in the 3rd quarter. Watkins kickoff was returned well all the way to the PCS 48 yard line, but that is as far as CCA would get in the drive. Another failed 4th down attempt would turn the ball back over Prentiss on downs at the Saints 47 yard line. The Saints ran the ball 5 straight times moving the ball to the 11 yard line. However, a fumble would give the ball back to Clinton on the 16 yard line. On 1st down, Greenlee stepped in front of the Warrior pass and returned it 18 yards to the Clinton 12 yard line. The Saints ran 1 play and elected to kneel out the clock on 3 consecutive plays. Prentiss improves to 3-1 on the season going into a conference game against the Newton Academy Rebels. The peewee Saints and JV Saints will travel to Newton Thursday evening.
