Royce Elayne Varner was born January 17, 1929, in Monterey, LA, and passed away on October 7, 2023, in Mendenhall, MS. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church for over seventy- three years and was always faithful to her church. She taught Sunday School for most of those years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Calhoun, and mother, Rena Calhoun; loving husband, Howard M. Varner; son, Scott Varner; sisters, Ellie Vivian Blount, Emma Lee Stapleton, and Marie Gayle Calhoun.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Varner (Debbie); daughter, Susan Davis (Richard); daughter-in-law, Jeanie Varner; grandchildren, Jason Varner (Heather), Sarah Price (Scott), Shelley Sayers (Michael), Landon Varner (Katie Brooke) and Josh Peckham (Casey); great-grandchildren, Hayden, Anthony, Riley, Avery, Viva, Baby Varner, Haley and Brooks; sisters, Dianne Marie Fancher and Garland Gayle White; many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved and neighbors and friends that she always cherished.
Her faith in the Lord gave her the strength to be an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She loved to cook, garden, and play with her grandchildren. She had many hobbies, quilting, and sewing, and loved to read any book she could. She enjoyed every moment with her family and friends.
We all took pride in the love our Daddy and Mama had for each other, and we take comfort in knowing she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Strong River Villas in Mendenhall, MS, for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Corinth Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Jay Wesbrooks officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
