Rose Ella Lofton, 97, of Mize, MS, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her children. She was born on February 28, 1927, to Ernest William Reeve and Cissie Edith Bowles in Syleham, England.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Services will be at 2:00 PM in Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim McNeil and Brother Laban Blakeney officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Mize, MS.
Rose was a devoted mother full of love, strength, and unwavering faith in God. She instilled those same values in her beloved children and grandchildren. Rose has always enjoyed working in her flower garden, birdwatching, and reading all the newspapers and books she received from her loving family back home in England.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Cissie Reeve; son, Donald Lofton; brothers, Sunny Reeve, Hessel Reeve, Lenny Reeve, Geoff Reeve, Eric Reeve, and Donny Reeve; sister, Bertha Snowden; grandson, Jason Tanner; son-in-law, Charles Lee Sullivan and daughter-in-law, Doris Lofton.
Survivors include her son, John Lofton; daughters, Ellen Tanner (Jimmy), Roberta Sullivan, and Dawn Martin (Gerald); daughter-in-law, Katherine Lofton; sisters, Gracie Woods and Sylvia Meadows; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Pallbearers are Chris Lofton, Justin Green, Brian Martin, Shane Tanner, Josh Dunn, and Jim Raines. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Foraker and Tristan Lofton.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
