Ronald Grice Batton passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of Doyle Ray and Christine Thompson Batton, born on January 23, 1949, in Mendenhall, MS.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Nancy Rushing Batton; two children, Sonia Delane Batton Blackledge (Dr. Tommy Blackledge) and Jason Duane Batton (Christy Batton); grandchildren; Brandon Gage Blackledge, Tyler Seth Blackledge, Ashlynn Brooke Blackledge, Kameryn Batton, Kayleigh Batton, John Russell and Justin Russell; one brother, Steve Batton and one sister, Kymble Batton Audiffred.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Christine Batton and sister, Cheryl Batton Holbrook.
Ronnie graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1967, where he played football and ran track. On December 28, 1968, he married the love of his life, Nancy Rushing and they settled in Mendenhall, where they would raise their family. He worked and retired from CNN Railroad after thirty-eight years of service.
He attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He loved his church, fishing, riding his tractor, but most of all, going and watching any of his grandchildren’s sporting events. He will always be their #1 FAN! He was their rock and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS, from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 pm at Mendenhall City Cemetery with Bro. Tim Parker officiating with interment to follow.
Pallbearers are Gage Blackledge, Seth Blackledge, Thomas Blackledge, Michael Audiffred, Blake Pearce and Zachary Pearce.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
