The Bonco Babes are celebrating 24 years of rolling dice! The group is composed of 12 people; therefore; 3 tables of 4. The original 12 members: Susan Hall, Diane McPhail, Susan Smith, Sue Honea, Tawesia Meador, Glenda Brooks, Martha Craft, Gail Hederman, Dorothy Partridge, Jane Everett, Nona Lee, and Sandra Rankin.
We have had more fun through the years. We appeared in the Christmas parade for several years…we even got out and danced in front of the judges one year!
Our earlier meetings were held at Martha’s Place. Thanks to Martha Craft we were always set up and ready.
Tawesia Meador is famous for her “ready, set, go.”
When Martha closed her fabulous “Martha’s Place,” we began meeting in homes. We always played for money (which my sons thought was so funny). Beginning several years ago, we all put $5 in the pot saving our money for a special need in the community.
Dorothy Partridge has kept us straight! She provided score cards and number cards. Of course, by now, we can’t remember who’s playing with who!
Most of our meetings require a “sub.” We have had some fabulous fun subs!
As we all grew tired of cooking, we decided to hold our meetings at Jose’s. Jose has been so good to work with the group. Sometimes, we don’t play anymore…we just visit.
Each member of our group contributes to our long time success. Diane prays for us! Susan Smith is our “young” player so she has lots of responsibility with us old ladies! Linda Bennett’s wealth of knowledge always comes in handy. She was in charge of the parades for years. Brenda Richardson’s sweet spirit keeps us all glorified ! Jane Everett is always laughing…she keeps us rolling! Donna is the “checker” of all photos to be sure we look presentable. Beautiful Glenda is the Queen for sure! Nona Lee”s (not pictured) talents always take us a step above the norm. Suzy Thames (not pictured) always has something we can borrow (not as much now as she did before she cleaned out her house!)! She is Miss November every year! We always know who has the November meeting because of Suzy’s love for the fall season.
We are forsake “forever friends.”
