“I am pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Magee.”
For those of you who do not know me, I am Robert Vinson and my wife is Cindy Vinson, resident and small business owner here in Magee. My parents are Delores Knight Vinson and the late Robert “Piff” Vinson who served 24 years as Magee Alderman Ward 1. We discussed the many challenges of Magee for 24 years, making me familiar with those issues.
One primary role of Mayor is to be an advocate for all the people. Your voice should be heard in City Hall, and with me as your Mayor, you will be heard. As the owner of The Country Printer, I speak with business owners from across the county and state. A recurring concern is the need for industry to provide good paying jobs for our hard-working citizens. I will work alongside Simpson County’s Development Foundation to recruit businesses to Magee and Simpson County. Having served on the Executive Board of SCDF, I know proactive recruitment works, as has been proven successful with job-producing industries like Polk’s Meat Company and Howard Industries. We will build on proven success.
We must maintain a strong services infrastructure for Magee, including a well-equipped Fire Department and a well-staffed police department. A modern and well equipped fire department helps keep home insurance rates low. A sufficient number of officers on the street will help keep our citizens safe and secure. I will work to grow and maintain both.
Magee’s Sports Complex is the envy of the county, providing enjoyment for kids and parents alike, and bringing revenue into our city by hosting tournaments. I will work with clubs and business to grow our sports facilities, and will also promote the Arts, opening even more opportunities.
In all of this, we must maintain a balanced budget.
I look forward to talking with each of you in this campaign. I ask for your vote, and look forward to serving you while moving Magee to a prosperous future. May God Bless.
