I wanted to share with you what Robert Berry wrote about his daddy on Facebook.

“Hello everyone. This morning around 1:00 a.m. my father passed away. It’s a tough time in my house hold but being home the last couple of weeks with him has been great. I learned so much more about him and what made him such a great man. Some former players from twenty years ago came and explained how dad was the most influential person in his life and also how dad gave everyone a fair chance no matter what. These stories go on and on and are the basis of what drives me to be a better person. He was one that didn’t judge someone, and one that is always willing to give someone a chance. Dad, was one of the most humble men you could ever be around. He was a strong willed man that did not believe in giving up and to always fight until the end. His end came sooner than we would have liked but the amount of people to have come forward to express how influential he was in their lives makes me so proud to have been his son. We lost him here but God’s baseball team just got a lot better. Thanks again to everyone for their kind words and prayers. Our family is truly grateful.” (Robert Berry)

Rob Berry of Florence died early Sunday morning. Just last week a blood drive was held for Rob at the Fred’s in Mendenhall.

His wife Malinda and sons Robert and Andrew survive Rob. Robert and Andrew are both graduates of Simpson Academy.

I really do not know the family well. Robert came with Brandon to my home several times and was such a nice young man.

I am trying to find out if there were other children.

When arrangements become available, I will post.

If anyone has additional information, please email to me:  sue@mageenews.com
