After graduating high school, she continued her education by receiving her certificate as a licensed practical nurse. This was the beginning of a lifetime of caring for others as a nurse in Simpson County. She was known for her love and compassion for all. Her hobbies included crafting and sewing.
Rita is survived by her father, Cecil Toney; son, Daniel Peacock (Summer); daughter, Rishanna Russell; brothers, Bobby Toney (Lisa), Bruce Toney; grandchildren, Temper Varner (Wesley), Heath Russell, Seth Russell, Austin Russell, Matthew Russell, Eli Peacock, Oren Peacock, Rose Peacock, Chasity Counts; great-grandchildren, Graeson Varner, L.J. Stephens and Brayden Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ernestine Toney.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Mendenhall, MS on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Joe Metts officiating with the interment following in Dry Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
