Early in life, Richard loved to play drums. He became a very accomplished drummer and played with many bands throughout the years. He enjoyed playing drums until his last days.
Richard was an over the road truck driver for many years. He really enjoyed traveling across the United States and meeting people. Richard always took pride in his truck driving and he won the “Best Truck Driver of the Year” Award quite a few times.
As an avid fisherman, Richard loved to fish! It was a lifelong hobby he shared with his Dad. Richard also enjoyed fishing with his friends, one of which took him fishing two weeks before his life ended.
Richard was informed in the year 2000 that he had cancer. During the next twenty years, cancer would come and go in his body. He endured his cancer battles and dialysis in hopes that one day he would be cancer-free! He was a fighter!!! Even with all the sickness in his body, he still tried to have an amazing attitude of hope. His one last surgery to remove all known cancer ended with complications that lead to the discovery of brain cancer that was previously undiagnosed.
He is survived by his parents, Frank E. Stubbs and Bobbie Jean Stubbs and one brother, Lee Stubbs. He is also survived by two aunts, Faye (Jason) Chamberlain; Gale (Danny) Doster, and one uncle, Joe (Susan) Walker and numerous relatives.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Magee City Cemetery. Bro. Steve Harrell will officiate.
