Richard Allen Gowan, Sr. 59, of Braxton, died Saturday at his residence in Braxton. He was born Wednesday, July 8, 1959.
Mr. Gowan was a published poet and an accomplished carpenter, known for building the gazebo in D’Lo.
Survivors include his sons, Richard Allen Gowan, Jr. (Stacy) and Ronnie Brown (Brittney), three step-children. Brothers, Johnny Cockrell (Lynette) and Thomas Gowan. Sisters, Pamela Chain (John) and Laura Gowan. Six grandchildren including Linkoln Gowan and Leigha McCallum. A special sister-in-law, Christy Cockrell along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Junior Gowan and Damie Pauline Gowan, sister, Deborah Clark and brother, Paul Gowan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall. Bro. Jack Woodard will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements (601) 847-4401.
