Rev. Sellers was born on December 28, 1921 to father Martin A. and mother Nancy Adie (Keys) Sellers. He served as a sergeant in the US Army during WWII in the European theater and then married Pearly Lavelle (Davis) Sellers on February 2, 1947. They had no children. Rev. Sellers completed his undergraduate degree at Mississippi College and then attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he obtained a degree in divinity. After serving as a pastor, he taught history and social sciences for the Magee Public School system at both the junior and senior high level from 1954 until 1982. Later in life, he worked at Piggy Wiggy in Magee. Rev Sellers had been a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Center in Magee since August 2010 as a result of a truck accident which destroyed his home.

Rev. Sellers is survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his siblings Cecil, James, Merle, Jewel and Luenell.
