Concerned Simpson county residents met before the Board of Supervisors asking for some type of animal ordnance to be adopted for Simpson county.
On April 1, 2017, a neighbor’s pit mixed breed dog attacked the couples daughter who was exiting a vehicle. When the parents notified the sheriff office of the incident, the couple was advised the deputy would do a courtesy call to see if information could be obtained about the dog. The dog owner advised the Sheriff’s Deputy the dog had been contained. The victim’s parents informed the board they have unable to speak with owners of the dog and need to know if shots are up to date. Information concerning the dog’s health is necessary for course of treatment for the young girl.
The board discussed the request which will be taken under advisement to see what the county can do legally and if an ordinance could be adopted for future use.
