Representative Wallace read to Whitney Bowen’s Class at Simpson Central.  He shared his favorite childhood book, “Johnny Tractor and his Pals.”

There’s something special about seeing leaders step into a classroom — not for a speech, not for politics — but to read a book to children.

State Representative Price Wallace recently did just that as he participated in Read Across America, spending time with students and helping spark a love for reading.

With book in hand and students gathered close, Wallace joined schools across the country in celebrating the joy and importance of literacy. The smiles in the room said it all — story time never goes out of style.

📚 What Is Read Across America?

Read Across America is a nationwide literacy movement that encourages children and adults to celebrate reading. The program was launched by the National Education Association and is observed each year around March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.

The initiative promotes:
• Daily reading habits
• Access to diverse and engaging books
• Community involvement in education
• A lifelong love of learning

Schools, libraries, and community leaders often invite guest readers — including elected officials, local heroes, parents, and volunteers — to share stories with students and highlight the power of books.

📖 A Moment That Matters

Representative Wallace’s visit was more than a calendar stop — it was an investment in young minds. When children see community leaders taking time to read with them, it sends a powerful message: reading matters and so do they.

Programs like Read Across America remind us that literacy opens doors, fuels imagination, and builds the foundation for future success.

And let’s be honest — there’s just something magical about a good story and a room full of kids ready to listen.
