Update:

At 2:30 PM, on Thursday, June 28, 2018, Tommy Joe Harvey appeared before Judge Linda Anderson. Attorneys Wesley Broadhead, Christina Huffman, and William Kirksey are representing Harvey.

Harvey was charged with a felony offense. He was indicted and charged with deprivation of rights under color of law.

Harvey’s offense carries a fine of $250,000 and up to ten years in prison.
Harvey entered a plea of not guilty and waved the reading of the indictment. An unsecured bond of $20,000 was set.

Trial date of August 20th was set by Judge Linda Anderson. Judge Daniel Jordon will preside over the trial.

Tommy Joe Harvey will continue as Chancery Clerk of Simpson County at this time.

 

Other news media’s are reporting at this time that the Chancery Clerk of Simpson County, Tommy Joe Harvey, was arrested Wednesday, June 28, 2018, after office hours in the county parking lot by Federal Marshals and FBI agents. He was booked into the Madison County jail on charges of conspiracy.

Harvey was accused of an incident involving pepper spraying someone in the face. The action brought an accusation of civil rights violation.

According to unnamed sources, the incident occurred during a Simpson County Youth Court hearing concerning child custody.

Tommy Joe Harvey was to appear in court Thursday at 10:00 PM. No word at this time of results from the hearing.

Mixed reports are being reported at this time. We have received no official reports of the charges.
