The City of Magee Community House is getting desperately needed repairs thanks to Allyson Berch and Jean Allen.
The Community House is one of our historic buildings. Built in 1937, the one story building is described as a Colonial Revival and housed the city library.
The building houses the Magee Museum. Through the years, parties, plays, political rallies, and business meetings were held at the Community House.
The floor in the main room of the Community House is made of beautiful hardwood. About four years ago or more, the wooden floors buckled leaving the Community House in an unusable condition.
Through the cities preservation committee, the reclaiming of the Community House began.
Penny Aguirre, Zoning Director for the City of Magee, wrote the T Mobile grant for repairs.
The committee, led by Allyson, Jean, and Penny set a goal of having the Community House useable by the Bicentennial.
That goal will be met.
A grant from T-Mobile (who is coming to Magee soon!) allowed many of the renovations.
I thought ya’ll might enjoy seeing some pictures of the progress.
