The Rock and Roll Marathon and ½ marathon was held in New Orleans, Sunday, February 28th. What started as a simple idea in 1998…a marathon with bands along the course celebrating with each participant…has grown into one of the most “fun” races in the United States. The races are held all over the US and Canada.

Live bands, cheer teams, and high-energy volunteer groups line the streets to power the run from starts to finish. Following the run, a celebration with family, friends, and fellow runners is held at the finish line area.

Simpson County participants pictured are Armand Abedikichi, Brian Barnard, Jamie Barr, Wendy Lacy, Sonia Blackledge, Christian Carrico, and Rusty Slover. This group ran the ½ marathon!
