The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Romans 12:13: “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” The early Christian writers, especially the apostle Paul, admonished new converts in the various churches to practice hospitality, especially with regard to the brethren. Many in their congregations were poor and destitute. Those, along with the widows and orphans, were to be singled out for special aid and assistance. We, likewise, today are to reach out to those less fortunate, give to the truly needy, and thereby help further the kingdom of God. Remember that a cup of cold water in charity given is remembered with joy in the sky. Amen!
