I don’t think there are many times in my life when I actually see or feel pure love…a love that knows no boundaries…a love that requires no action…a love that loves because of love.

This summer when I was on vacation with my family, I saw “pure love.”  I had no idea the vision was coming…I had no idea the action was about to take place…but on a scorching putting green, I observed pure love.

Preston, my middle grandson, and Larkin, my oldest granddaughter, were “putting” on the golf course at our condo.  When Preston and Larkin began the game,  it was “kind of” hot but not “take your breath away” yet.  As the minutes ticked on by, I could feel the sun beams puncturing my skin…thank goodness I had a hat on as did Preston and Breck.  Larkin kept on playing…a 4 year old trying to keep up with a 9 year old in a game made for “older” kids.  As I set on the bench, I watched Breck go over to Larkin, take off his hat and put it on her head.  He did not want his baby to bear the burden of that sun.  Immediately, I knew I had seen pure love.  Love so strong for another person that their own needs were placed second to another.  Breck loved his daughter so much that he wanted nothing to hurt her.  My heart swelled with pride…but my heart also realized the times I am unwilling to share pure love.

Do we help others to help ourselves?  Do we “make a show” of things we do for others?  I’m afraid I’m guilty many times of not showing pure love.

Sometimes, I think it is difficult for people to accept pure love.  We have been trained to think “if you do something for me…you are expecting me to do something for you…but, that my friends is not pure love.

If someone tries to give you pure love…accept that love in the way it is given.

Larkin

And, we much each be more aware of ways to give pure love…even if it is giving a child a baseball cap in the hot sun.

Pure love…something I miss and wish to give.
