Chris Purdum, is pleased to announce his intent to run in the 2018 Special Election for the position of Mississippi House of Representatives, District 77. Purdum, is a resident of Magee and, has served in many areas in the community, including the Magee Chamber of Commerce both as a board member and President, the Simpson County Development Foundation, and the Republican Executive Committee of Simpson County. He and his wife, Lindsay are active members of First Baptist Church of Magee where they serve as Small Group Youth Leaders. He wants to thank the individuals inside and outside of District 77 that encouraged him to seek this position.
Purdum stated, “Simpson County is my home, and I have a great desire to help make improvements in District 77 and to represent the interests of all of its residents to make sure District 77 thrives. “
Purdum is a graduate of Laurel High School, Jones County Junior College, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Mississippi. He is a 2011 graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law. He has been admitted to practice in all Mississippi State Courts, the Mississippi Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, US District Court’s Southern and Northern Districts, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is currently serving as the City Prosecutor for Magee, MS and the Board Attorney for Mt. Olive, MS. He is a former Mendenhall City Judge. He and his wife Lindsay reside in Magee, MS with their 1-year old son, Hudson.
The Special Election for the Mississippi House of Representatives District 77 seat that was vacated by Andy Gipson will be held on July 10, 2018.
