October is National Physical Therapy Month. Athletic Trainer Jonathan Pierce joined MageeNews.com to discuss common sports injuries among football players and the best ways to prevent those injuries.

For instance, according to Pierce, it is important that coaches teach the correct form for tackling. He said being taught proper techniques can go a long way toward preventing injuries. Another important aspect of preventing injuries is wearing the right gear and equipment, he said.

Among football players, shoulder injuries, concussions, ankle injuries, and knee injuries are common. Pierce explained how dangerous injuries can become while playing football and also offered advice about the best ways for younger players to prepare for their future athletic careers.

 

Simpson Academy Senior Neely Kate White directed and produced this video as part of a series for National Physical Therapy Month as part of her senior project which focuses on preventing sports injuries in adolescents.
