125 SOUTH CONGRESS STREET

POST OFFICE BOX 136

JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI 39205-0136

Jackson, MS—Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is pleased to announce Preston Goff has been promoted to serve as Assistant Secretary of State of Policy and Research.  Goff has been serving as Senior Attorney for the Division for the past three years.

“Preston is already heavily involved in reviewing and crafting important policies which directly impact our State,” says Secretary Hosemann.  “He has the keen ability to balance responsibilities to our Agency and his country without fail.  Transitioning to the Assistant Secretary of State of Policy and Research will be seamless under his leadership.”

A military veteran, Goff also serves as a First Lieutenant in the Mississippi Army National Guard in the 972nd Trial Defense Service.

As Assistant Secretary of State of Policy and Research, some of Goff’s responsibilities include researching potential policy revisions to Mississippi business laws and other laws pertaining to the Secretary of State’s Office and making recommendations to the State Legislature.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my work with Secretary Hosemann to ensure Mississippi business laws are the best in the country to promote economic growth in our State,” says Goff.  “We hope to create an environment to encourage companies to create jobs and development in our State.”

A Pearl native, Goff graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  He graduated magna cum laude with his Juris Doctorate from the Mississippi College School of Law and attended the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Preston and his wife Druhan currently reside in Madison with their daughter, Lily, and son, McKellar.
