Precision Metalforming Association Educational Foundation Accepting Spring Scholarship Applications

CLEVELAND, OH—February 14, 2023—The Precision Metalforming Association Educational Foundation (PMAEF), in partnership with 14 districts of the leading association for the metalforming industry, the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), is now accepting applications from high school students and others seeking scholarships to train for careers in manufacturing. PMAEF will take applications through April 10, 2023 for spring scholarships of $1,000 or more.

Launched in 2020, the PMAEF scholarship program aims to strengthen local talent pipelines by awarding scholarships to individuals seeking careers in the metalforming industry.

“The last few years have seen record growth for manufacturers,” said PMA President David Klotz. “As the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic and associated closures, the industry has added some 800,000 high-tech, high-paying jobs. Now, to make sure that manufacturing continues to thrive, it is critical that we attract, train and retain the next generation of workers. This scholarship program from PMA’s Educational Foundation, which lessens the burden for deserving individuals to obtain essential industry skills, is part of our efforts to lead the way to building the future workforce of American manufacturing.”

Applicants must be a high school senior and/or formally enrolled in a post-secondary metalforming/manufacturing/technology/engineering program; trades job training/apprenticeship; or a machining, CNC, tool & die, welding or stamping certificate program at an accredited institution with 20 or more contact hours.

During the most recent scholarship campaign in fall 2022, PMAEF and PMA districts provided $17,000 to 15 talented students in six districts, bringing the total scholarships awarded in 2022 to $45,000, for 38 recipients in eight districts.

Since its inception, the PMAEF educational scholarship program has expanded from four PMA districts participating in 2020, to 14 districts across the country set to award scholarships in the spring of 2023.

The PMA California, Chicago, Cleveland, East Michigan, Lone Star, Indiana, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Southeast, Southern New England, Tennessee, Twin Cities, West Michigan and Wisconsin Districts are pleased to be supporting local individuals’ aspirations of pursuing manufacturing careers.

“PMA districts are proud to support the next generation of metalformers,” said Randy Kish, PMA member engagement manager. “While still in its infancy, we are thrilled with the program’s success so far in awarding tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships. As participation grows, the sky is the limit as to the impact our districts can make in fostering manufacturing careers.”

Those interested in participating or learning more about the scholarship program are encouraged to visit the PMAEF website. The deadline to apply for a spring scholarship is April 10, 2023.

Established in 1996, the PMA Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to the promotion and development of a skilled workforce for the metalforming industry. PMAEF operates as a supporting organization to the Precision Metalforming Association, the full-service trade association representing the $137-billion metalforming industry of North America.
