The Scriptural passage for today is found in 1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” All glory, praise, and honor are due God for sending His Son Jesus as a propitiation for our sins. Through the shedding of Jesus’ blood, we have remission for those sins. In addition, God has provided the gift of salvation which carries with it forgiveness if we but repent and ask, but as a huge consolation, we have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in our daily lives. All of these blessings give us hope beyond this existence, and we know, through faith, that we’ll one day step into eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then, as the old hymn asks: “Won’t it be wonderful there? Having no burdens to bear? Joyously singing with heart bells are ringing, oh, won’t it be wonderful there?” Amen!
