A topic of debate in the Mississippi Legislature and in the lives of many Mississippians, has been over Civil Asset Forfeiture. A bill, pushed by Attorney General Candidate Mark Baker, died in committee last Tuesday that would have reinstated the controversial law that is largely backed by law enforcement. At MageeNews.com, we conducted a poll that received 28 votes, and the results are clear. Over two-thirds of those that voted are against the law being reinstated.
This bill, along with many others, died on last Tuesday, February 5. This date was the deadline for bills to make it out of committee and with 2019 being an election year, very few pieces of controversial legislation will actually make it to the full House and Senate Chambers. If you have a topic that you would like us to possibly poll, send it to us over Facebook or E-Mail.
