Tuesday night, March 11, 2025, the Magee Courier and Simpson County News sponsored a meet the candidates and hear what they have to say!!!

The people came but not so true of the candidates.  All 4 mayor candidates were in attendance.  (Dale Berry, Mark Grubbs, Jim Snider, and Joe Worrell). Alderman at Large Sue Honea who does not have an opponent was present. Ward 1 candidate Allyson Berch was present. Ward 1 candidates Chris Craft and Frank Duane Simmons did not attend.  Beth Moore and Lawana Thompson, Ward 2, attended.  Rachael “Suzie” Bourne , Ward 3, was the only one in her ward to participate.  Word 3 candidates Slovaki Griffith and Lane Steele chose not to attend.   Two candidates from Ward 4, Melinda Green and Julian Harper, participated.  Cortez Chatman was a no show.

Here’s your ladies! Rachael “Suzie” Bourne, Beth Moore, Allyson Berch, Sue Honea, Melinda Green, and Lawana Thompson

Wards 1 and 4 are wide open.  With Mark Grubbs vacating his position as Alderman Ward 1 and the retirement of long time Aldermen Patrick Brown these wards will see a new face.

All candidates were in agreement with infrastructure goals, clean up, and up keep of city buildings.
