Peoples Bank Promotes Fewell to Branch Officer
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, announced that former Customer Care Associate Beverly Fewell has been promoted to Branch Officer at the bank’s Jackson Avenue location.
Ms. Fewell has been associated with Peoples Bank for 13 years and will now assist the Branch Manager with daily routines. She is a graduate of Magee High School and attended Hinds Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Married to Shane Fewell, she is the mother of five: Mason Fewell (Faith), Megan Sartin (Cody), Maizy Fewell, Mitchell Fewell and Macoy Fewell.
The Fewells are members of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where Ms. Fewell serves as a Youth Leader.
“Beverly is an active ambassador for Peoples Bank in the community and always
represents herself and Peoples Bank in a positive way. I know that she will do a
wonderful job in this new position,” Ammann said.
Cheramie Joins Peoples Bank As SBA
Business Development Officer
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, announced that local businessman Tyler Cheramie has been hired by the bank as an SBA Business Development Officer.
Located in the bank’s Magee Office, Cheramie will be responsible for SBA Loan growth in Mississippi and Louisiana, specializing in small-to-moderate sized businesses.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he earned is Associate’s degree from Co-Lin and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from William Carey University. For the past four years Cheramie has been affiliated with Farm Bureau Insurance in Simpson County.
He currently serves on the Magee Beautification & Development Committee and the Simpson County Youth Leadership Committee. He and his wife, Nicole, also serve as the youth leaders at Church Alive. They have one son, Jude.

Veteran Banker Bill Shuff Joins Peoples Bank As
Senior Credit Analyst
MAGEE –Bill Shuff has joined Peoples Bank and will serve as Vice President and Senior Credit Analyst, according to Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Shuff comes to Peoples Bank after serving for 10 years in various credit analysis and lending operations positions at Merchants & Planters Bank in Raymond, Mississippi, where he carried the title of Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer and Chief Loan Administrator. In his new role, Shuff’s duties will largely include management and analysis of the bank’s Small Business Administration portfolio. He will be located at the Peoples Bank office in Richland.
He is a 2009 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Mississippi State University’s International Business Program with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, focused in management and a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language, focused in Spanish. He is also a 2010 graduate of the Else School of Management at Millsaps College, with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, focused in management.
Shuff and his wife, Kathryn, have two sons: Harry and Charlie. They are members of Redeemer Church in Jackson.

David Nolan Joins Peoples Bank as AVP
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, announced the hiring of David Nolan as Assistant Vice President, Finance and Community Development Officer.
Nolan has spent the past 17 years with First Horizon National Corporation, where he served as an Accountant and worked in Regulatory Reporting and Compliance.
In his new role, Nolan will support the Board of Directors while working in a variety of Financial Reporting and Compliance areas, as well as servicing multiple CDFI awards and New Markets Tax Allocations.
Nolan received his Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Mississippi. He and his wife, Kellye, have two children.
“David brings to Peoples Bank a wealth of experience. His knowledge of
maintaining compliance standards, monitoring funds and asset allocation will be a huge benefit
to us,” Ammann said. “We are delighted to have him as a part of our team at Peoples Bank.”
Mae Lynn Sykes Promoted to Vice President
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, said that Mae Lynn Sykes has been promoted to Vice President. Sykes works in a variety of areas in the SBA department. Recently, she moved into underwriting SBA loans as well, which carries significant additional responsibilities. In her new role, Sykes will expand her underwriting and servicing roles.
Sykes joined Peoples Bank in 2021. She has previous financial experience as an
Administrative Assistant, SBA Packager, Commercial Lender Specializing in Poultry Lending and SBA Coordinator.
She is a 2006 graduate of Jones College and is currently enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Sykes has been a member of the Laurel Lions Club since 2012 and was awarded Jones County Leading Business Woman of the Year in 2016. She has been married to J.B. Sykes for 24 years. They have two sons, Cole (22) and Matt (14).
“Mae Lynn’s promotion was very well deserved. She’s been a strong force in our SBA team since she arrived. We appreciate her hard work and know she will excel in this new role,” said Ammann.
Samantha Tharpe Promoted to Collections
Officer
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, said that long-time bank employee Samantha Tharpe has been promoted to Collections Officer in Magee.
Ms. Tharpe joined Peoples Bank in 2007 and served as Head Teller for nine years. For the last several years, she has served as a Collections Specialist. She will now take over the department that oversees foreclosures, repossessions, judgements and garnishments.
She is a 2003 graduate of Mount Olive Attendance Center and is married to Carlton “Ray” Tharpe. She has two daughters: Karlee and Ryleigh.
“Samantha has distinguished herself and excelled as a team player for many years, and I am confident she will continue to do an outstanding job in her new role,” Ammann said.
Seth Assink joins Peoples Bank
MAGEE –Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, announced that Seth Assink has joined Peoples Bank as VP/SBA Business Development Officer. He will be tasked to locate small business lending opportunities throughout the bank’s SBA footprint.
Assink brings over 15 years of lending experience with him, most of it being commercial and private banking, specializing in state and federal tax credit profile requirements.
Assink received his undergrad degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and continued to obtain a master’s degree from Alcorn State University. Assink is also a graduate of the Mississippi School of Banking held at the University of Mississippi.
Seth is the father of two sons, Levi (9) and Lane (6).
“We are delighted to have Seth working diligently for us. Seth brings a wealth of commercial underwriting and business development experience to this role, and I know he will help expand the bank’s SBA lending,” said Ammann.
