Peggy Joan Stringer King, 83, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Magnolia Place Retirement Home in Sumrall, Mississippi. She was born Thursday, December 30, 1937, in Taylorsville, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Mississippi.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Dr. Frankie Clark will officiate the services. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564
Peggy was born and raised in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She attended Taylorsville High School. Through the years of marriage and being a mom, the call to nursing never left her heart. She didn’t let her age or what life dealt her stop her from earning her RN Degree and having a successful and rewarding nursing career.
She enjoyed so many things, nursing, cooking, traveling, casinos, and animals. With her enormous sense of humor and personality, she was truly the life of the party. Her love for Elvis and Country music was immeasurable. Most of all Peggy enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her beloved dogs which were family to her. Peggy King was one of a kind, loving loyal strong and so very generous. She will be missed immensely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Sonny” King; parents, Polie Stringer and Annie Blakeney Stringer; daughters, Teresa “Terry” Powell and Rita King; brothers, James Stringer, Willis Stringer, and Harold Stringer; sisters, Rachel Stringer Ashely, Mildred Stringer, Hazel Stringer Gossard, and Betty Stringer Singh.
Survivors include her children, Tammy Ruiz and her husband, Greg, of Cypress, Texas, Larissa King of Taylorsville, and Tony King of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Jason Powell, Lynsey Ruiz, Lexi Ruiz, Eli Swindle, and Alex Swindle; great-grandchildren, Ginger Powell Barnett, Jesse Powell, and Brianna Powell.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Windham, Danny Jones, Jon-David Johnson, Bob Hawkins, Tim Robinson, Robert Dale Stringer.
