Peggy Brooks at the age of 90 of Magee Mississippi passed away on Tuesday June16, 2026 . Peggy was born on March19,1936 in Braxton, Mississippi to Roy Jefferson and Mattie Lena Sullivan Barlow.
Peggy married Karol Gene Brooks on June22,1953. They had five children, two sons David, Dale and three daughters Brenda, Rhonda and Laura. Later in life they adopted their granddaughter Asia so they raised six children.
Peggy retired from working many years at Magna Tek. She was a devoted mother and grandmother that lead by example and fiercely loved and was loyal to her family. She was a great cook and seamstress and loved reading cook books, and working in her flowers, she had a green thumb because whatever she planted grew, and dearly loved working in the yard. She seem to have the ability of never meeting a stranger, she could talk and make friends where ever she went. She had a warm smile and a contagious laugh that will never be forgotten! She had away about her, that could make everyone feel at ease and welcomed. She was a God fearing, hard working, compassionate, generous, kind hearted woman, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all including her pets that were her companions!
Peggy was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. She had a great love for her church and her church family and dearly loved the special times when she had to cook and have dinner with her church family.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Koch (Roger), Rhonda (Charles) Baldwin, Laura (Myron) Vincent. Her grandchildren Vanessa Birkmeyer, John Gaines, Arrmon Abedikichi (Hannah), Azod Abedikichi(Joy), Persia Davis(Eric), Zachary Baldwin, Brooks Baldwin(AnnaLauren), Ashley Marbury, Carter Flora, Campbell Flora, Bella Flora, Ava Flora, Cannon Flora. Greatgrands- Lakota Birkmeyer, Ethan Birkmeyer, Savannah Mathis(Levi), Dylan Gaines, Phoebe Gaines, Mavrick Abedikichi, Ruby Abedikichi, Eliza Yelverton, Braxton Baldwin, Barrett Baldwin, Banks Baldwin, Olivia- James Baldwin, Anne Caroline Baldwin, Brooks Baldwin Jr. and one Great-great granddaughter- Eowynn Mathis. Two brothers, James”Rudy” Barlow(Joyce), Jimmy Barlow.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22,2026, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Siloam Baptist Church in Magee. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial will follow Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Carey Bass will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
