Peas and Tie-Vines

Not too many people today pick their own vegetables anymore, but, occasionally, I help my husband gather our peas. Yesterday, I picked a few purple hull crowders and confronted every gardener’s enemy: TIE VINES!! I don’t know the scientific name of these pest weeds but I know how fast they can take over a garden! Spraying, hoeing, and plowing helped for a while but when the vegetables are producing their crop, the tie vines appear and persist in attacking every plant.

As I tried to free the peas from the vines,   I noticed how strong the vines were! The peas were fully developed, healthy and strong, yet those tiny vines curled around those big fat peas and the pea would break before vine!

Let’s Share the Love of God. by James Davis

God is always right by our side.

August 4, 2025

Isn’t that a picture of sin! My life looks strong and healthy, yet sin is right at the door of my life, waiting for an opportunity to sneak in and wrap itself around me and take over my life!

All of us should guard our hearts! Satan knows our weaknesses and knows the buttons to push to insert himself into our lives. The armor of God’s word in my heart is the most effective pesticide, the best garden hoe, and the deepest plow that can root out the smallest of sins!

1 John 4:4   “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one                              who is in you is greater than the one that is in this world!”
