Some people in one’s life are always special…they are someone who just held a special place in your heart….this person for me was Patsy Ates.  I guess I’ve known Patsy since I was a little girl.  I admired her as she raised three strong and smart daughters.  I admired her as she worked tirelessly to provide for her family.  Also, I loved Patsy because she smiled and laughed.  I enjoy being around people who laugh.  She was an original Golden Girl (a group of ladies in our area who enjoyed life and contributed to many worthy projects in our city).

About a week ago, I visited Patsy asking for her vote for Alderman at Large.  “Sue,” she said, “I am going to get to work the polls again!  I can’t wait.”  Patsy died Election Day.  I have no doubt she was “watching” over us and double counting votes!

What a blessing to live in a city and grow up in a village of caring people.

One of the Best

The girls, Lynn, Vickie, and Susan, loved their mama!  They took care of their mother!  She was loved…and I full well believe she knew it!  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored Patsy!

Her large group of family and friends are broken hearted.  We were not ready to see Patsy go!  There are to many stories and to many jokes still to be shared!  God in His wisdom knows the time and the place.

Patsy, will always be golden to me.

Visitation is Thursday night, April 8, 2021 at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee.

(I have not been given a full obituary, but I believe the funeral is at 10 on Friday at First Baptist Church ….)
