“Pack a Purse” is an opportunity to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Claudia Townsend Steele (sister of Magee’s Tesa Duckworth) shared the idea on FB. Suzy Thames shared the idea with me…and our BYW is accepting the challenge! Our BYW will be packing the purses on Monday, September 11th at 6 o’clock. Everyone is invited. Bring a covered dish. We will eat and get to work on our project.

You can bring a new purse or a gently used purse for the packing. If you cannot attend the meeting at Diane’s home, leave your packed purse on Diane’s swing under her carport, my front porch swing, or Simpson Medical Supply. We will connect  with Claudia for the delivery of the purses which is Friday, September 15th. No purses will be accepted in the Magee area (BYW) after Monday the 11th. Our Ollie Mayhall BYW of the First Baptist Church of Magee (wow!) has always been dedicated to missions. If you do not belong to a mission group, we would love to have you join. BYW meets once a month on either the first or second Tuesday of the month (according to everyone’s schedule!). Our fundraiser for this year is sponsoring the Christmas Tour of Homes scheduled for Sunday, December 3 from 2-4…more details to come. Our BYW will be proving lunch for the Simpson County Job Corp class on Tuesday, September 12th. Our group is named for Mrs. Ollie Mayhall a lady who was a missionary to Africa most of her life…when she was living in Magee!

Items for the purse: travel size tooth paste and tooth brush; deodorant; insect repellent, new or used Bible; brush or comb; shampoo/conditioner; lip stick/balm; lotion; sample size make up; a coin purse containing $5…use your imagination and think “what would I like of find in a purse!” (All liquids must be placed in a zip lock bag)

Our church, First Baptist in Mauriceville Texas, received a whole bunch of purses for our ladies! There has been so much interest and ladies are loving it and so very grateful! As one put it, like being turned loose in a candy store! Thank you so much if by chance you are the group that sent them, for sure a spirit lifter!!!
