OUTDOOR BURNING PRIVILEGES ARE SUSPENDED
10/05/2022
Due to abnormally dry weather conditions, a potentially dangerous wildfire situation now exists – to the public & to our firefighters.
Therefore, in an attempt to prevent or lessen chances of a potentially dangerous situation from developing, the privileges of outdoor burning are now suspended with in the City of Magee (this suspension does not include the unincorporated areas of Simpson County). All outdoor burning is prohibited –including open pit fires, camp fires, or fires in containers. This doesnot include legitimate barbecue grills & smokers. The suspension of all outdoor burning will remain in effect until further notice. No significant rainfall is predicted in the short term future. The NWS suggests that rain chances may increase some next week, however, the over all dry period will continue. With these continued dry conditions, the increased fire dangers will persist. This suspension is not expected to be lifted in the short term future. If & when the dry weather conditions moderate, outdoor burning will again be allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation.
