OUTDOOR BURNING PRIVILEGES ARE SUSPENDED

04/08/2022

The NWS has posted a wildfire danger alert for our area. Low humidity values & increased winds are expected today & threw through the entire weekend. Due to these weather conditions, a potentially dangerous situation now exists – to the public & to our firefighters.

Therefore, in an attempt to prevent or lessen chances of a potentially dangerous situation from developing, the privileges of outdoor burning are now suspended with in the City of Magee (this suspension does not include the unincorporated areas of Simpson County). All outdoor burning is prohibited – including open pit fires, camp fires, or fires in containers. This does not include legitimate barbecue grills & smokers. The suspension of all outdoor burning will remain in effect through the weekend. This suspension is expected to be lifted, allowing outdoor burning to resume, Monday when the NWS forecast is for better weather conditions, & removes the alert.

Thank you for your cooperation.
