The Scriptural passage for today in chosen from Jeremiah 14:22: “Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring forth rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is You, Lord, our God. Therefore, our hope is in You, for You are the One, Who does all this.” The prophet Jeremiah placed all hope and faith in God. He was God’s chosen emissary to God’s people and knew that the nation of Israel’s only hope lay in the God of the universe. No idol could provide the people with anything. Only the one true God was capable of doing so. And so it still stands today. If we put our trust in idols such as man or money or station in life, we are sure to be disappointed. Only God alone, the Maker of the universe, can equip mankind for what is needed to succeed and live eternally. The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God.
Let us live joyfully and share that same spirit with everyone.
