The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Jeremiah 17:10: “I, the Lord, search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.” Here, the prophet of old is relaying the message from God for His people: our hearts and minds are constantly being examined by God, Who will reward according to each one’s deeds and actions. God never changes. His message remains the same. As such, we are told that our sins, as well as our good deeds, are known to God, Who asks that we daily repent of our sins. He will, in turn, freely forgive us, ensuring that our covenant with Him is kept intact, and our line of communication with Him is cleared. As a result, God will shower the faithful with blessings. “Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead.” Thank you, God, for your manifold blessings.
