The Cougar team is on their way to the Class AAAA Division II Championship game!!! The game is Saturday night at 6:30 at Jackson Academy. Simpson takes on Lamar…and what a game it will be!
I was privileged to be invited to the team recognition day at the MS Sports Hall of Fame. Our boys and coaches made me proud. Twelve teams are included in the State play off which begins Thursday night. Today, Monday, the coaches and four players from each team were introduced to the media and the those in attendance. Head Coach Dan Napier did a great job! In fact, I have a video interview on MageeNews.com FaceBook with Dan.

Athletic Director Winston Mullins shared a few “Cougar” facts with me!
“The Cougars will play in the State Championship game for the eighth time and first time since 2013. Lamar School are the defending AAAA DII State Champions and are making their eighth appearance as well. Simpson has won six State Championships, and Lamar has won four State Championships. This will be the 22nd time Lamar and Simpson have faced each other, Simpson holds a 16-5 advantage in the series. Lamar won the previous matchup this year by a
score of 63-55. Lamar comes into this game with a nine game winning streak and a 10-3 record. Simpson comes into this game winners of eight of their last nine and a 9-4 record. Simpson and Lamar will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. at Jackson Academy on Saturday, November 18th. “

I am so excited for this Cougar team. These boys have worked together to make it to State. They have shown grit and determination. Coach Napier started with a plan in the summer…and the plan worked!
Congratulations to a well deserving team!
Go Cougars!
