The Scriptural passage for today is found in Philippians 3:20: “But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ….” The early Christians fully expected Jesus to return during their lifetimes. They waited in great expectation. The apostles, therefore, felt it necessary to assure them often that they would, indeed, be claimed by Jesus upon His return. They were not to give up, lose faith, or discount the promises Christ had made them. It’s the same for us today. By faith, we believe that Jesus will return just as He said He would. On that, we can depend and are encouraged to watch and wait. Let us be found doing just that. Amen!
