The Scriptural passage for today is found in Philippians 3:20-21: “Our citizenship is in Heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.” Praise be to God! Yes, the gospel writer knew it was essential to remind the early Christians often that things present would soon change. Christ would return, assume control of all things on earth, and they’d be changed to the likeness of Christ. As the BIBLE tells us, only God knows the day or the hour of Christ’s return. Not even the angels in Heaven know. We who remain here are to be watchful and ready so we’ll not be caught off-guard. Are we watching and waiting? Do we forget Christ’s promise of His return and of the changes to be brought about as a result? I’m reminded of the gospel song made popular by the Greenes “We Shall Be Like Him.” I claim that promise, as I eagerly await its fulfillment. Yes, “We’ll be changed to His glorified likeness. We shall be like Him someday.” Amen!
