USM offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 180 programs through six degree-granting colleges. Undergraduate students have 142 bachelor’s degree programs from which to choose.

BestColleges.com highlighted “degrees in forensics with six concentrations, a well-established baccalaureate journalism program with four areas of specializations, and comprehensive baccalaureate music and theater programs.” In addition, the site made particular note that several degrees are offered 100 percent online in areas such as applied technology, business administration, and education.

“While rankings sometimes overlook our qualitative measures of excellence at The University of Southern Mississippi, I am pleased that our undergraduate programs in forensics, mass communication, and the arts have been recognized as notable programs,” said Southern Miss Provost Dr. Steven Moser.
A dual-campus university, Southern Miss serves students on campuses in Hattiesburg and Long Beach, in addition to five teaching and research sites in Mississippi and Online at Southern Miss. With a diverse student body of approximately 15,000 students representing 74 foreign countries, all regions of the United States and every corner of Mississippi, Southern Miss celebrates diversity in every sense of the word.

BestColleges.com helps prospective students find the school that best meets their needs through proprietary research, user-friendly guides, and hundreds of unique college rankings. Essential factors used in the state-by-state rankings include acceptance, retention, graduation and enrollment rates.
