One suspect in area burglaries  arrested

Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis reports that on May 4, 2015, during the course of an ongoing investigation regarding recent burglaries on Simpson Hwy 540 E, Cooper Rd., and Simpson Hwy 28, Simpson County Sheriff’s Office investigators obtained evidence which led them to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Magee, MS. The store’s video surveillance footage was obtained and two suspects were identified as 23-year-old Teara Lashonda Kelley and 28-year-old Derrick Dewayne Hopkins.

These suspects had been linked to multiple house burglaries in Simpson County.

Sheriff Lewis stated that Kelley was taken into custody without incident by Simpson County deputies near Main Street in Magee, MS.

Sheriff Lewis reports that suspect Derrick Hopkins remains at large and is wanted by the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office.
