Obedient
As I was working at my desktop this morning, I heard the birds in the trees next to our house. Out of the window, I saw a baby bird being fed by its mother. The mother bird flited from the ground, to the shrubs, to the swaying limbs of the oak tree, never hesitating from move to move. The mother bird was confident in its abilities to fly high in the sky, to hop slowly on land in search of food, or move from solid ground to swaying tree limbs.
I thought “what a beautiful sight!” This bird displayed all of the characteristics that God wants in his children. This bird flew onto the madly swaying branch of the oak tree, landing beautifully and still holding on to the bug for her baby in the nest. Mama bird did not wait until the branch was still, or the wind stopped blowing or the skies cleared! This bird was doing its job of caring for her baby birds, no matter the timing or the circumstances!
How many times have I waited until the wind stopped blowing? Until the timing was just right? Or I felt more confident in myself for the task ahead? How many times have I delayed or discarded God’s plans for me? I mistakenly think that I know what is best for me! As I have grown older and wiser, God has shown me over and over that His timing is just right, His methods will always be effective, and He has never called me to do His work without equipping me for the task! He did not ask me to reform or change; He called me and equipped me just as I was at the time He called me!!
My task is to be obedient!!
