I just had one scary experience!!! I had just drifted off to sleep (about 12)….when a buzzing noise woke me up…at first I wasn’t even sure what the noise was…then it “hit” me…my house alarm!  The “red” light and warning sound was humming.  Now, ya’ll, I’m just saying…I didn’t mess around…I called the PD…got my gun (yes, I actually have a concealed carrier license thanks to Eugene Knight and Brandon Johnston!)  As always the dispatcher was wonderful…..I had four cop cars…and a bunch of well trained policemen at my door within 3 minutes.  I am not a scared person…I had to train myself  to be brave…..raising three boys will teach you lots!!!

I went straight to my front door, (holding my gun….Brandon, you taught me well…) turned on the porch light…and cops were already flooding my front porch.  Some of the men came into the house…others took the outer perimeter…..a visual search was done of the property and house…inside and out….

I’m just saying…don’t mess with the prez…I know how to use a gun and I will….so you stay at your house and I’ll stay at mine…enter uninvited and you will be looking at a pistol…that this crazy woman knows how to shoot….and will shoot.

One Property at a Time: Citizens Can Help Shape Magee’s Future

July 30, 2026

I never liked guns…really never wanted to even own one…but times have changed.  After Dot Nichols’ home was broken into in broad daylight, I made the decision to put in an alarm system…one of my better decisions…in my home…..so I’m ready…but what is really the sad thing…I don’t want to see “my Magee” turn into this type of place…when you have to sleep with a gun by your bed…when you can’t enjoy life at your house…I’ll be fine…the police will continue to patrol…I’m leaving inside and outside lights on…but don’t take from me what I treasure the most, my freedom of living in my own home.

We have an excellent police department.  I know they are watching over me…and the alarm is reset…the gun is by my bed…now if sleep will just come.
