No Millage Increase for City of Magee

Although the budget of Magee will be adopted on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 @ 6 PM, Brett Duncan of Charles Prince CPA announced at the August 17, 2021 Board of Aldermen meeting, a millage rate of 23.95 will produce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes for Magee as was collected in the prior year; therefore, no millage increase is needed.

Highlights of the 2022 Budget:

Police Request:  $120,891

Christmas Lights:  $12,500

Fire Department:  $5,760

New Dump Truck for Enterprise Fund:  $15,600 Lease purchase, $1,300 month

 New Tuck in the Enterprise Fund:  $19,200 lease purchase, $1,600 per month

Purchase of New Dump Trailer in the Enterprise Fund:  $4,000

1% raise for all city employees

Animal Control Facility Upgrade:  $5,000

Recreation purchase for SRF (Recreation Construction (this is the 1% tax on hotel and restaurants—not part of General Fund)

   Marvin Jackson Park:  $35,000

   Nets for 4 Fields:  $15,000

   Side by Side:  $15,000

   Fencing Repairs:  $10,000

   Batting Cages:  $9,000

The proposed budget for 2022 is $4,528.076.  The proposed amended budget for 2021 is $4,146,065.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and will be allowed to speak at the public hearing on the purposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2021-2022 on Tuesday, September, at 6:00 PM in the boardroom at the Magee City Hall
